This course deals with material-environment interactions. Aqueous corrosion, anodic and cathodic processes and passivity; atmospheric corrosion; oxidation and the structure and properties of oxide films; conjoint phenomena, impingement, erosion, stress corrosion cracking, fretting corrosion fatigue; corrosion control by coatings; inhibition, cathodic protection, anodic protection, corrosion in relation to engineering design, code regulations, safety and economics.
