This course focuses on design, manufacturing of various types of artificial joints, other implantable biomechanical devices, and aids for persons with disabilities. Some aspects, such as the determination of the geometry and different sizes for artificial joints, are product specific, while safety criteria, ergonomics, rational choice of alternatives and modern design procedures are applicable in the design of a much larger variety of products.
